ADULT PROGRAMS

The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (MAWIB) is the local administrator of the workforce development system for Milwaukee County and maintains responsibility for the management and governance of the Job Center System - the primary service delivery structure for public workforce development investment.

The primary service categories to assist jobseekers are:

  • Core Services: Registration; Initial Assessment; Resume
    Development and Employment related Workshops
  • Intensive Services: Case Management; Assessment;
    Supportive Services
  • Occupational Training
  • Job Placement and Retention
  • Follow-Up Services

Contractors are encouraged to provide culturally sensitive services, as
well as accommodations for individuals with disabilities and accessible programming for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) jobseekers. The promotion of Non-Traditional Occupations for under-represented groups is also emphasized under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

Geographic Area of the Program

The program's service area is Milwaukee County. Participants of all MAWIB-sponsored programs must reside in Milwaukee County. WIA services are available to all eligible individuals in the MAWIB's service area of Milwaukee County, both by contact with staff at comprehensive Job Centers and through electronic linkages.
