INTENSIVE SERVICES

Participants who are eligible for services under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), include unemployed individuals or those whose earnings are less than 300% of federal poverty guidelines; those who have been laid off due to downsizing or plant closings; those entering the job market for the first time; jobseekers with disabilities; persons with limited English proficiency (LEP); mature workers and individuals needing to update their skills for today's marketplace. Our Youth program prepares young people ages 14 - 21 with the employment, career and interpersonal skills they need to be successful now and in the future.

The MAWIB's service strategy is to offer a broad array of assistance to employment-and-training program participants. Many of the youth enrolled in youth programs need significant supportive services in order to reach their career goals. Similarly, participants in the Adult and Dislocated Worker programs can remove barriers to employment through our extensive network of providers of short-term services. This RFS is an opportunity for vendors not already part of the network to apply as providers of services in one or more of the following areas: GED/HSED; basic literacy/ESL, pre-vocational activities; computer skills; assessment; AODA; mental health, housing; legal; child care; soft skills; life skills; and driver education. Other services will be considered if deemed appropriate.

Successful respondents to a Request for Services (RFS) will become eligible to receive referrals from contracted WIA case managers, when appropriate. Upon approval, new vendors will be added to the existing Intensive Services network list in the Service Area(s) applied for. This is a vendor relationship between the MAWIB and the applicant. Inclusion on the list does not guarantee whether or how many referrals will be made, and organizations may be added or removed from the list at any time, based on program needs and service provider performance. Disadvantaged, minority and women owned businesses; faith-based organizations; and community-based organizations are encouraged to apply.
