OVERVIEW

The MAWIB is an administrative agency that contracts out for direct services related to employment and training. The following types of entities are eligible to provide services solicited by MAWIB:

  • Private non-profit organizations
  • Private for-profit organizations
  • Public organizations
  • Community-based organizations
  • Faith-based organizations

Under Adult Services, MAWIB contracts out its case-management services in the Job Center System. MAWIB periodically issues a Request for Proposals to provide these services to adults and older youth and sometimes to special populations, such as job seekers over 55 years of age. This solicitation is usually open on an annual basis.

MAWIB also issues a Request for Proposals for worksites to serve the subsidized Summer and Year-Round Youth Employment program. This opportunity is generally available near the beginning of each calendar year.

MAWIB maintains an Intensive Services Provider Network list for short-term services to Adults, Dislocated Workers and Youth. These include GED/HSED; basic education and ESL; AODA and mental health services; basic computer skills and soft skills; legal assistance; and driver’s education. These vendors are solicited through a Request for Services process.

MAWIB occasionally solicits other services through Administrative Requests for Bids. These may include auditing services; cleaning services; and the like.

MAWIB publicizes its Requests for Proposals, Requests for Services
and Administrative Requests for Bids through public notices placed in local publications of record. MAWIB also advertises these opportunities on
its website and mails out notices to its list of interested parties. If you wish
to receive notice of any bidding opportunities, please fill out our Email
Request Form
.

In addition, MAWIB partners with area schools, trainers and businesses to prepare jobseekers for a specific employer. These applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed monthly. Interested applicants should read the Customized Skills Training application carefully and contact Employer Services Team with any questions or join the e-mail list and to ascertain the due date for a given month.
