TRAINING

The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board partners with area colleges, local trainers and businesses to create training programs which match your changing needs with qualified employees.

On-The-Job Training is designed to be a “win-win” work experience for both an employer and a new employee. If you are looking for workers with specialized skills, an on-the-job training program can let you hire good candidates and provide the specific skills training they need to succeed in your workplace. These jobs could be entry level or highly technical positions.

You select potential employees from a pool of pre-screened candidates whose skills and interests have been evaluated and then matched to your job requirements. Training is provided at your place of business.

When you have selected candidates to hire, an agreement along with a training plan is developed. During a designated training period, up to 50 percent of the employee’s wages are reimbursed to you. Trainees must work a minimum of 32 hours a week for up to a maximum of 16 weeks. The job must be permanent, pay at least $8.00 per hour and trainees must be offered access to benefits, including health care insurance. Request Info

We also partner with area colleges and technical schools, local trainers and businesses to create Customized Skill Training for current employees or as a way to build your workforce. These programs are tailored to your specific needs and require a contribution of 50% of training program costs. Request Info

You can provide specialized skill training to help Incumbent Workers meet changing demands in your industry and advance in your organization. There are eligibility requirements your workers must meet and a pre-determined percentage wage increase is required post training.
