LAID OFF? - THE MILWAUKEE HIRE CENTER
Staff at the Milwaukee HIRE Center (Help in Re-Employment) are skilled at addressing the specific issues of those who are facing unemployment due to layoff or company closure. This site is operated by a consortium, which includes the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, State of Wisconsin Job Service, AFL/CIO Labor Education and Training Center, Milwaukee Area Technical College and the United Way of Milwaukee.
We can help you manage the transition from unemployment to employment and start you on the road to your next career. Often workers can choose from education and re-training options in advance of layoff or termination. But it starts with a visit.
Displaced Homemakers are another eligible population served at the HIRE Center. A displaced homemaker is an individual who has been providing unpaid services to family members in the home and depending on the income of another family member, but who is no longer supported by that income, is unemployed or underemployed, and is having difficulty in obtaining or upgrading employment.
