INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICES
For those individuals that are not job ready, the next step is to register to
work with an employment coordinator. Here the goal is to complete a full assessment of your skills, interests and abilities to identify what you need
to overcome personal and professional barriers.
An employment coordinator can make referrals to other services. Needs vary by individual – obtaining a GED, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, or help with communication skills, for example. Our commitment is to universal access to services for all jobseekers. We contract with experts to extend services to special populations such as ex-offenders, persons with disabilities, older workers and those with limited English proficiency.
For those individuals that meet eligibility requirements for Workforce Investment Act (WIA), an employment coordinator can refer you to appropriate educational, training and supportive services. This includes access to a voucher program whereby participants are allowed to choose their own training provider. Your coordinator stays in contact – following up for over a year after secured employment. This federal program is meant to help those who want to improve their lives overcome obstacles and realize their potential. It is a specific process [goes to map] that is customized to each individual.
The Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board and its partners use creative ways to help anyone who wants a job find one.
